We are thrilled to present the fourth volume of Advances in Cosmetic Surgery. I, along with coeditors Drs Branham, Dover, Khetarpal, and Wulc, have compiled an issue that provides the reader with the most up-to-date and innovative procedures, techniques, and developments in a field that is rapidly changing and growing. In our current climate, in which patients are more educated than ever before about their aesthetic options, it is of utmost importance for providers to be attuned to the newest advances in this field. This was our number 1 goal when creating this issue. We chose hot topics that have grown in popularity in our current society and put together a group of dermatology, facial plastics, and plastic surgeon experts who each contributed articles in their field of expertise. In this issue of Advances in Cosmetic Surgery, the reader will find a wide array of topics to address the most popular and most common patient concerns. The reader will find articles on nonsurgical body contouring with electromagnetic radiation and radiofrequency. Laser treatment of scars and laser-assisted drug delivery are reviewed in detail as well as a discussion can be found on where we currently stand on these topics today. We discuss the use of stem cells, phenol croton oil peels, and combination treatments to address the difficult problem of melasma. In this issue, we have also included nonsurgical rhinoplasty, lip lift, and hair restoration and have introduced the newest techniques in breast and body surgery. You will also find information on social media, its influence on the aesthetic field, and how best to use this tool to market your practice. This issue will not disappoint, and we are beyond thrilled and honored to present this to you.
Finally, in the true sense of the mission of this series, we found it extremely important to include the effects of the pandemic on the cosmetic surgery practice. The pandemic has greatly changed how we interact with patients and the services we offer and has opened our eyes to a new way of running our practices. We have dedicated a full article to this important topic.
We hope you enjoy this newest and latest issue of Advances in Cosmetic Surgery as much as we enjoyed creating it for you! A big thank you to our contributing authors for their inciteful and educational articles! Enjoy!
